2010 Holiday Party!

The 2010 SCOPE Holiday Party was fantastic!! A beautiful Saturday night at Tantalum Restaurant at the water in Long Beach brought over 80 old and new members face-to-face for some great food and conversation.

SCOPE was also able to deliver a check to our Poker Run Charity, Friends of Long Beach Fire Fighters for $28,000 dollars! A huge thanks to all our participants and sponsors for 2010. You really made 2010 a great year.

One thing that occurs at every holiday party for very early on is the presentation of the "golden baton", and in the last 4 or so years there is a trophy presented too.

These are presented to a fellow boater for doing some kind of boating related "bone-head" event. This year the "golden baton" was presented to Lu Lyall. An air-brake knob was added to the baton since Lu forgot to set the parking brake on his toter-home and it rolled way. Luckily the light-bar stopped it when it hit a wall.

The "poodle" trophy was also presented to Lu Lyall. This is the first time there was a "dual recipient" of the baton and trophy. Lu made the poodle mistake of running out of gas (while pulling a skier) during a practice run for the Catalina Ski Race.
