SCOPE President
I would like to thank the members and board of
directors for a great 2010 and an even better Poker Run that
generated over $20,000 for charity.
I am privileged to serve as president for 2011
and look forward to one of our strongest years for participation.
The board of directors and I have made a few tweaks to the
calendar and you won’t want to miss any of the great events and
trips that we have planned.
Spring Fling in Avalon will be our first boating event April
8-10th and we will be bringing back the group BBQ.
We will also be going to Lake Powell at the end of June,
which is a trip that I have been pushing on for years.
Those that have done it know this is an epic trip.
Our famous Lake Mead Run will also be scheduled a little
later in the year over Labor Day, which should provide us with
better weather and higher water levels this year.
The Poker Run will be even better in 2011 with the Friday
night dinner back and enhanced lunch stop at the island, which
kicked a@# for the 2010 Poker Run. These
are just a few highlights so please check the website for all the
other great events that we have scheduled.
You can plan on seeing me at every SCOPE event and we hope
you join us.
When I first joined SCOPE in 1999 it was
primarily for the Poker Run.
Over the years we have realized that the trips have been our
favorite events. My
family and I had no idea that we would be making the friendships
that we have through SCOPE and we hope you do the same this year and
years to come.
I would like to emphasize boosting
participation, and the board and I will be doing everything that we
can to reach out to members to promote each event well in advance.
I have been fortunate enough to experience some life lasting
memories with SCOPE that have revolved around family and great
friends as much or more than our passion for boats.
Some of our greatest events were based on participation of
members and their guests and not just the number of boats.
So help us spread the word to make this the best year ever!
