First-Time SCOPE Trip
Rough Water and a
Change of Course!
The new 2005 SCOPE trip to Channel Island Harbor proved to be great fun,
and HUGE water. The trip consisted of meeting on a Saturday morning at
9:30 at the launch ramp in Channel Islands Harbor, the quiet home to
more sailboats than powerboats! Once about 10 boats showed, we headed
out of the harbor to get hit head-on with some pretty large seas that
made for slow going. Two boats made the run to Santa Barbara, while the
rest headed for nearby Ventura Harbor for lunch.
In
Ventura, we had lunch, tried on hats at the Mad Hatter, then headed back to
Channel Islands Harbor. There, most of us stayed at the Embassy Suites Hotel
for the night with party and dinner. We all had a great time an look forward
to next year's trip! It was great to meet some of the new SCOPE members
there and see the hardware!!!
A BIG thanks to Tank and Kelly Sears for their help on
getting this trip together! |
