Newport Anchorage
Overnight Party!

The 2004 event was the last SCOPE formal anchorage night and it was great....but the 2006 Newport Harbor Anchorage Overnight was awesome! Only the die-hard boaters of SCOPE braved the calm waters and warm weather at the anchorage on a beautiful Memorial Saturday evening. Some of the group went boating earlier and had lunch at the Cannery.  Later, a group of twelve boats tied together and enjoyed some great BBQ food, great wine, dancing and a great evening talking about boats, family and eating! In the morning, we woke to beautiful sunshine and.........what the heck!

Around 2:00am in the morning.......a sail boater knocked on the end boat and said that our group had drifted into his "scope"......little did he know was that we are SCOPE members and had about 7 anchors out!!!  It all worked out, he tied up and we discussed it in the light of day in the morning.

Look for some impromptu overnight tie-ups on the message board. We appreciate all the new people getting involved this year and look forward to the same participation for all the 2006 events!
